What’s new in 1.6
Chart interpretation
MidCaelum helps explore the structure of a natal chart through signs, houses, aspects and core symbolic configurations. You can also customize all interpretation texts to match your own approach. Its purpose is to offer a nuanced reading of personality and symbolic dynamics.
Current sky
Instantly display the current sky for your location and explore planetary positions in real time. A simple way to connect symbolic interpretation with the present moment.
Current transits
Overlay current planetary positions on the displayed chart, then view cross-aspects using the Aspects button. Add or remove transits from the Tools menu or the button in the left panel, in the classic chart view.
Returns and progressions
Calculate solar and lunar returns and secondary progressions from a natal chart, in tropical or sidereal mode. Solar returns require a licence.
Charts saved with Whole Sign houses require MidCaelum 1.6 or later to display houses correctly.
Calculations and tools
It combines accurate calculations, a large built-in atlas, multiple house systems, and integrated interpretations in a polished desktop workflow.

No account is required. Core chart calculation and built-in interpretation features work locally on your Mac.

Included interpretation texts
MidCaelum includes a complete database of interpretation texts in 6 languages (French, English, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and German). The following elements are included by default:
- Sun, Moon, planets in signs and houses (I-XII)
- ASC & MC in signs – interpretations of the Ascendant (ASC) and Midheaven (MC) signs.
- Sun sign-Ascendant combinations – concise synthesis of the Sun sign with the Ascendant sign.
- Planetary dominant – a short note describing the dominant tone of the chart.
- Major aspects – conjunction (0°), sextile (60°), square (90°), trine (120°), opposition (180°) between Sun, Moon, planets, and with the ASC and MC when applicable.
Not included by default (no built-in interpretations): asteroids, lunar nodes, Part of Fortune, Black Moon (Lilith), and minor aspects (semi-sextile, quincunx, sesquiquadrate, etc.).
Localization note: MidCaelum includes built-in interpretation texts in six languages. Your installation automatically uses the localization corresponding to your macOS language. Other localizations are not accessible within the application.
Your own interpretation library
A flexible system designed to preserve MidCaelum’s original texts while giving you complete freedom to develop your own approach.
MidCaelum has a fully user-editable interpretation system. It includes a built-in library of astrological interpretations, available in all six languages in which MidCaelum is localized, that always remains intact. You can edit, expand, translate, or create your own interpretations, which are stored separately and automatically take precedence over the built-in versions without ever modifying the original library.
Your personalized interpretation library can be exported, shared, imported, or removed at any time, instantly restoring the original interpretations.
With this system, you can progressively build and maintain your own portable interpretation library, reflecting your own language, writing style, or astrological practice.
